"We started off as friends, but quickly developed a liking for each other. A month later we decided to make our relationship official on September 25th, 2014. Ever since then, we have always participated in the sport that brought us together. Running is our hobby and a part of our everyday life. Meet Couple #3: Thomas '80 and Aida Dankowski '81

Here's a #FarmingdaleForever love story that began in 1980. Thomas '80 and Aida Dankowski '81 met at Changing Times Farmingdale while they were FSC students, and Aida shares their story:
"He walked me and my friend back to Hughes Hall, our dorm, & I found out he lived in Lehman Hall, across the way.  We literally could see each other's windows from our rooms. I was in the Nursing program & he was in Engineering Science. An unlikely pair.
Our first date was in June, after our semester ended. I switched to night school @ Farmingdale in the fall & Tom went job hunting. We continued to date, became engaged in April 1981. We knew by our third date that we had special chemistry. He made me laugh.
We had a very small wedding on a rainy Friday night, Dec.4,1981. Tom continued his education in Engineering while I worked as an RN at Southside Hospital. Tom worked for NYS DOT as a civil engineer until his retirement from the state in 2019. He now does consulting with private construction firms. I officially retired from nursing & continued as a program director for a parish Outreach.
We raised four children and put them through universities along the way, bought a house in 1988, had a few dogs, & lived our lives like we were meant to. Our children are now all grown adults forging their paths, and we are still going strong 41 years later. We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, and are planning a family trip to Iceland as soon as COVID & our schedules permit."
Thank you Aida Maria Salcedo Dankowski for sharing your beautiful #FarmingdaleForever story with us!
